Johannes Gierlinger was born in 1985, and grew up in the countryside in Austria. His films have been screened and exhibited at various Filmfestivals and Institutions like the CPH:DOX Copehagen, Cork Filmfestival, Kassel Dokfest, Transcinema Lima, Ibaff Murcia, Diagonale Graz, Mumok Vienna, Alternative Film Belgrade, Documentarist Istanbul, Kunstforum Vienna and many more.
