Its nuanced meaning comprises of homesickness, a kind of intense yearning for a person, place or home which may not even exist, for it also encompasses a nostalgic mourning for the Wales of the past. The artist uses their body in a filmic ritual of light and sound, incorporating and activating archival photographs and recordings. hiraeth (for taid) lingers upon longing, loss and the relationship to family roots.
