Kissing Gates (2013)

Dotted along public footpaths, Kissing Gates punctuate the English countryside. The gates only allow for one person at a time to pass through and tradition has it that one of a couple out walking could hold the gate firmly shut, demanding a kiss as payment before permitting the other to pass through.

This film is made with footage and field recordings of Kissing Gates gathered in the heart of Constable Country, between Dedham Vale and Flatford Mill, Suffolk in August 2013.
